Yrael has the information they'll need for their... field trip, that which Tesla helpfully procured for them about the Cabal. Yrael, Axel and Nikola have been planning this for quite a while, and since the Cabal seem to be stepping up their activity in regards to searching for Nikola, they decided that acting sooner was better than later.

Getting into Tesla's world is as simple as him opening the door and letting Axel and Yrael step through.

And both magnificent bastards, at that.

"True, true," Yrael grins, handing Axel the laptop with the blueprints so he can focus on finishing off his sushi. "You'll like this next place. I'm thinking we should try for roof-access again."

"Yeah?" Axel says. And then-- "Oh--!" as they come out the portal.

The sun in high and bright in the cloudless blue, baking the city below.

Yrael practically purrs, feeling the dry heat both above and below, from the sun and from the roof under his bare feet.

Eventually, he'll notice that the roof they're standing on is strung with lines, hung with... drying laundry?

...Not that Axel can be made to care.

"...I vote that it's break time," he says, very seriously.

He can't be the only one who wants to take a nap in the sun, can he?!

Yrael opens his eyes, which had drifted shut in the soporific warmth. "Mmm."

"I think you're right."

"Though..." he frowns slightly, looking around, "...I don't think this is an office-building, anyway."

It's an apartment complex.

"Break time, then."

He'll look over the blueprints they were given, in the meantime.

Eventually.

It is such a lovely, dry heat, in this desert city.

"Yeah."

It's kinda a lot like Agrabah. Axel flops down on the ground, and sprawls out, face to the sun.

Yrael sprawls next to him, lying on his stomach so that his back is warmed from the sun, and his stomach is warmed by the sun-baked roof below him.

It also lets him start looking over the blueprints and maps they were given, the sound of him clicking through them on the little laptop the only sound from the two of them for a while, against the backdrop of city sounds from street-level.



...This building shouldn't be an apartment complex. It should be a towering building of labs and offices.

Axel shifts just enough to use Yrael's back as a pillow.

"...So what's up?"

Yrael clicks through a few of the aerial views of the building they are supposed to be on, shaking his head.

"This isn't the building that is supposed to be here, at all."

All signs point to the building in the aerial views and in the blueprints not existing.

"The information Nikola was given was faulty. Faulty in very specific ways."

Which... isn't really a good sign.

Axel frowns.

"That's not good."

[mogget_cat]

"No, it really isn't," Yrael agrees, frowning faintly at the laptop screen.

"This building shares no features with the building we were lead to believe was here, other than it's got the same elevation."

"That means that whomever was Nikola's informant knew who he or she was dealing with, and deliberately included false information."

Axel sits up, and turns around, so he can see as well.

"All right, so what're we looking at here?"

"It's supposed to be this," he says, pointing out the modern-looking office-building displayed on the screen, which coincidentally looks nothing like the mid-1960s apartment building they're currently perched upon.

"Everything else we've seen today has been perfectly accurate to what we've been given, but we can't assume that any of our other stops are going to be what we expect."

"All right. I guess we should figure out where they are then. I can send out a few Assassins," he suggests.

Yrael lists the remaining three cities, pulling up images and blue-prints of the buildings in question.

Axel studies the maps, the coordinates, the information... And he nods.

And then there are a half-dozen Assassins on the roof with them. Silently, Axel gives them their orders, and sends them out.

Yrael watches the Assassins, idly.

"Every time I see them, I want to introduce them to the Hish from back in the Old Kingdom," he remarks.

They're practically cousins brothers from another author mother.

"Maybe we should, sometime," Axel replies. "Now... Wanna go get some coffee, while we wait for a report?"

"Sure," Yrael says, smiling slightly as he closes the laptop and puts it away. "Though I do admit the heat is making me sleepy."

The not'cat streeetches, yawning and wiggling his toes as though flexing claws.

"It's nice, isn't it?"

It makes Axel feel energetic, restless; bouncy even.

"It is," Yrael says as they get up from their flopped and sprawled positions on the roof. "Especially after such a long and lingering winter as we've had at Milliways."

Axel makes a face.

"I hate the winter," he says. "--There's a coffeehouse," he adds, pointing to the little traditional hole-inna-wall, a couple of men sitting outside, sipping coffee and smoking.

"Want to take the fire-escape to get down to the street, just to be ironic?" Yrael grins, looking over at Axel.

Axel laughs.

"Sure!"

Being two people with balancing skills that verge upon being ridiculous makes getting down the fire escape and down to the street a much more... creative endeavor than it might be for normal people.

Who says going down the fire escape means actually taking the stairs?

"Coffee, then," Yrael says, landing lightly on his feet on the dusty street. "How long do you think it'll take the Assassins to report back?"
